Eligible unemployed candidates have alleged that the Gujarat government has not been recruiting exercise teachers in schools for the last 15 years. The last time a gymnast was hired in a school was in 2006. Since then, the government has been reluctant to recruit. This government, which spends millions of rupees every year in the name of Khel Mahakumbh, recruits enough exercise teachers in schools. Currently, there are allegations of a shortage of about 60 per cent exercise teachers in state schools.
Khel Mahakumbh, FTI India and Yoga University, Sports University are being set up in the state on one side and on the other.

In primary schools, the government has closed the door for exercise teachers. Every year, the Office of the Director of Primary Education seeks vacancies for teachers by subject from schools. A ready table is sent to the schools by the office to fill the vacancy, the table does not even mention the exercise teacher. Asking the school principals so that no school can even claim that there is a vacancy for an exercise teacher.
