The SDAU came into being four times after the old GAU was dated on May 01, 2004 with the power to govern seven regions namely; Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Patan, Mesana, Gandhinagar, and Kachchh. The main campus, Sardarkrushinagr located at the foot of the 'Aravalli' mountain range is a green, rich and beautiful place with a free urban form that provides a complete educational and research environment. The SDAU is well known in the educational and agricultural community for its diverse contribution to education, research, and expansion in the field of agriculture and integrated science.
