Indian Navy invites online applications from unmarried male candidates (who fulfill eligibility conditions as laid down by the Government of India) for enrolment as sailor for Matric Recruit (MR) entry:

Candidates should be born between 01 Apr 2001 to 30 Sep 2004 (both dates inclusive)
PAY STRUCTURE
After successful completion of training, candidate will be placed in Level 3 of Defence Pay Matrix (Rs. 21,700/- to 69,100/-) & MSP @Rs. 5,200/- per month plus DA (as applicable)

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
1. Online applications are invited from unmarried male candidates who fulfill the conditions regarding the nationality as laid down by the Government of India for musician sailors in the Oct 2021 batch for a total of 33 vacancies, approximately 300 candidates will be called for Music screening test. A widower or a person who has divorced his wife shall not be treated as an unmarried male for the purpose of this regulation.
2. Educational Qualification. Candidate must have passed Matriculation Examination from the
Boards of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
3. Age. Candidates should be born between 01 Oct 1996 to 30 Sep 2004 (Both dates inclusive). No
age relaxation is permissible. 4. Musical Ability. The candidate should have proficiency in Aural Aptitude for music with accuracy in
Tempo, Pitch and singing one complete song. Should also have actual practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin with proficiency in tuning of instrument, matching unknown notes with instrument, prepared piece, sight reading of Indian Classical/ Tabulature/ Staff Notation, performance of Scale/ Raaga/ Taala and basic theory of Indian or International music.
5, Type of Instruments on which Proficiency Required. The candidates would be required to perform with expertise on one or more instruments such as Keyboard/ String/ Wind instruments or any other instrument of Indian or Foreign origin. Candidates performing on Indefinite Pitch Instruments such as Jazz Drums set, Bass Drum, Snare Drums, Side Drums, Cymbals, Non Chromatic instruments such as
Bugle & monotone instruments used to produce only one note or drone will not be eligible for recruitment.
6. Musical Experience Certificate. (a) Candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on Wind Instruments will require
musical experience certificate from any recognized musical Institute or organization of repute. (b) A certificate of minimum Initial Grade from International Boards such as Trinity College of Music, London Royal School of Music, London will be mandatory for candidates performing western notation or western music on Wind Instruments. (c) Other candidates will be required to submit certificates of participation/ awards presented at various events.
PAY AND PERQUISITES
7. Pay & Allowances. During the initial training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be
admissible. On successful completion of initial training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix ( 21,700- 269,100). 9. Perquisites (a) During the entire period of training and thereafter, sailors are given musical instruments, books,
reading material, uniforms, food and accommodation etc. free of cost.
(b) Sailors are entitled to medical treatment, Leave Travel Concessions for self and dependents, Group Housing Benefits and other privileges. Sailors are also entitled to Annual and Casual Leave. Children Education and House Rent Allowances. Postretirement benefits include pension, gratuity and Leave encashment. All perquisites are extended as per service conditions and their eligibility/admissibility is regulated as per government orders in force and amended from time to time. Insurance Cover. Insurance cover (on contribution) of Rs 50 lakhs for all sailors is applicable.
SELECTION CRITERIA
11. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, an exception is being made in the public interest wherein approximately 300 candidates will be called up for Music Test and PFT. Selection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in Music Screening Board and subject to clearing PFT at Kunjali and Enrolment Medicals examination at Chilka.
12. Shortlisting of candidates for Music Test will be undertaken on the basis of music certificates (a) Degree in music (b) Diploma in music (c) Other graded certificates (d) Certificates

Note: In case number of candidates, having similar qualification exceeds the numbers of vacancies, the shortlisting will be carried on the basis of 10th marks.
(a) The Music Screening Board will be conducted on the date and slot given in the call up letter. Verification of age, education qualification, music certificates and musical ability along with physical fitness of the candidate will be assessed during Music Screening Board. (b) Those who quality the Music Screening Board will be required to undergo Enrolment Medical Examination tentatively scheduled in the month of October 2021.
14. Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The PFT will be conducted for all candidates appearing for the Music Test. Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection. PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
